Grant Thornton is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Scott as the new National Head of Financial Services, effective 1 January 2025.

Claire brings an impressive depth of industry knowledge and leadership to the role. As a Partner in Audit & Assurance, Claire has extensive experience in external audit, assurance, regulatory compliance and advisory for APRA regulated entities including superannuation funds, authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) including major banks, regional banks, mutual banks and foreign banks, as well as investment funds, fintechs, non bank lenders, mortgage funds and other financial service entities. With a strong focus on navigating regulatory complexities and governance issues, Claire is well positioned to lead the Financial Services team, bringing fresh focus and innovative solutions to clients.

Claire will take the reins from Darren Scammell, who has successfully led the firm’s Financial Services practice for the past three years, driving growth and strengthening our standing in the sector.

“I am thrilled to take on the role of National Head of Financial Services, and work alongside our talented industry team to help our clients navigate the evolving financial services landscape,” said Claire Scott. “With the industry going through rapid transformation, our clients need experts who are deeply knowledgeable and capable of providing forward-looking, tailored solutions. My ambition is to build on the strong foundation laid by Darren and continue making a meaningful, sustainable impact for our clients”.

“We are delighted to welcome Claire into this leadership role. Claire’s extensive financial services experience, commitment to client success, and expertise in audit and regulatory standards make her the ideal leader to guide our clients through these times of significant change,” said Fraser McNaughton, Chief Marketing Officer & Industry at Grant Thornton.

“Darren has set a high standard for our Financial Services practice, and I want to thank him for his dedication and ongoing contributions to our continued growth within this industry,” continued Fraser McNaughton.

In her new role, Claire will lead a diverse group of passionate industry experts, dedicated to supporting the evolving needs of financial services organisations. Together, they will provide clients with strategic guidance and solutions to help clients navigate regulatory requirements, improve operational efficiency, and seize new growth opportunities.

Grant Thornton is excited to continue its commitment to the financial services industry under Claire’s leadership, building on its dedication to delivering high-quality, tailored services that address both immediate and long-term industry challenges.
