Grant Thornton appoints new National Head of Business Risk Services

Today Grant Thornton welcomes a new senior partner, George Sutton, a risk management and governance professional with more than 30 years’ experience across consulting, financial services, government and technology.

Business transparency and accessibility – through reporting, media and social media means that now, more than ever, business leaders and boards must clearly understand their appetite for risk, the risk culture of their organisation and implications of delay or inaction.

Based in Sydney, George will lead our growing Business Risk Services (BRS) practice, which currently supports a range of clients across financial services, food and beverage and government sectors.

“Grant Thornton is in a great position to help support clients across all aspects of business risk. From human capital and governance, through to audit and forensic accounting – we have deep expertise that is very much in demand from our clients. They are watching Royal Commissions, enquiries and political upheaval and want to know how to safeguard themselves for the future – we can help guide them through the real challenges arising from these,” George Sutton said.

“George will be an amazing addition to our senior leadership. A respected advisor and mentor in the industry, our clients will benefit from his sage insight on managing risk in the modern business environment which encapsulates so much more than bottom line, but also brand reputation, employee advocacy and capacity for innovation,” Paul Billingham, National Managing Partner, Grant Thornton Consulting said.

Active in the business community, George is a Risk Committee External Member for UNSW and a business mentor as part of Muru-D, a Telstra supported start-up accelerator in the technology space.
