Serena has over 14 years corporate tax consulting & compliance experience and manages a diverse client portfolio ranging from small to medium enterprises to large reporting corporations, across a range of industries, including renewable energy, technology, manufacturing, and professional services clients.

As an Australian Chartered Accountant, Serena has previously worked with a mid-tier accounting firm and with the Australian Taxation Office.

Serena is a key member of the Grant Thornton Renewable Energy industry team and works closely with our Tax Partners in areas of international and corporate taxation. She has represented our clients in ATO reviews, assisted companies in corporate restructures, advised on mergers & acquisitions, and business sales.  She has also advised foreign corporations on their Australian activities and flow-on tax liabilities.

Experience

• Advising on project financing for a renewable energy project
• Performing tax due diligence for the potential acquisition of a solar farm
• Advising on the tax implications of forming a tax consolidated group
• Representing clients for ATO reviews including the ATO’s various justified trust programs
• Cross-border tax planning, including the establishment of Australian and foreign operations 
• Advice in respect of business sales
• Restructuring business operations in preparation for IPO
• Advice on tax loss recoupment
