Got questions? We’ve got answers

To be eligible to apply for our graduate opportunities or our vacation program, you’ll need to meet the following requirements.

2026 Graduate opportunities

You must be:

  • planning to complete your studies by mid-2026, or have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last two years
  • an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, a Permanent Resident of Australia or a visa-holder subject to the below conditions.

Vacation students

You must be:

  • in your final or penultimate year of study
  • an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, a Permanent Resident of Australia or a visa-holder subject to the below conditions.

To be eligible to apply, you will need to demonstrate that you have full time working rights within Australia at the time of your application. We will accept applications from candidates who hold one of the following visa types:

  • Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189 or 190)
  • Partner/Spousal visa (Subclass 820 or 801)
  • Secondary employer sponsored visas (for example: Subclass 457, 482 or 186, where the primary visa holder is a family member)

Students holding the below visas will be required to submit an application via our Expression of Interest.

  • Student Visa (Subclass 500)
  • Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

Expression of Interests will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and a member from our team will contact you should your application be shortlisted.

Please note: We do not accept applications from Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) holders for our graduate opportunities or vacation program.

Candidates will also need to demonstrate their:

  • ability to obtain permanent residency or transition onto another relevant visa type at the end of their current visa's expiry
  • legal right to work in Australia up until such time that permanent residency is granted
  • completion of an approved English language test and proof that they meet the required benchmarks as set by the Department of Home Affairs.
If you hold a passport from the UK, USA, Canada or the Republic of Ireland, you are not required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.

Please note: Grant Thornton will not sponsor students for the purposes of residency. Successful candidates who are not permanent residents when made an offer of employment will be required, as a condition of their employment, to independently apply for and obtain permanent residency.
