There are often opportunities for staff to relocate for a period of time to an office of their choice, while retaining the security of their position at home as part of our secondment program. We offer secondments that range in length from three months to two years, depending on your preference and what is available.
Overseas secondments in the early years of employment are an important part of our commitment to the training and development of our people. Grant Thornton staff are encouraged to participate in short-term secondments once they are CA qualified.
The global secondment policy provides comprehensive assistance for all secondees including:
- airfare
- fully furnished accommodation
- medical and travel insurance
- up front cash payment upon arrival in overseas location (in local currency)
- airport pick-up
- participation in office induction and
- cultural days

What made you choose Grant Thornton?
I wanted to work somewhere with a global presence that would allow me the opportunity to travel but was still small enough that I was treated like a person, rather than a number. I also liked the mix of clients from small owner managed businesses, right up to multinational listeds.
What has been the greatest career challenge you have faced so far?
I am challenged every day with work. But, the biggest challenges have related to going on secondment and learning a different way of doing my job.
What is your advice to someone finishing university?
Research your options and choose a firm that suits you and your personality. There is no point choosing a firm for its reputation if their approach doesn't suit you. Also, take the opportunity to travel!
Who is your role model?
My mum.
What do you like to do outisde of work?
Hiking, soccer, reading, eating, travelling.
